I am writing this letter to support Adam Gunderson’s aspirations to run for Sheriff in Clearwater County.
I deployed to combat operations in Iraq with Adam twenty years ago. I have seen him perform with excellence under the most extreme pressures imaginable. It was his ability to handle stress and communicate with people, along with his promptings, that were instrumental in me getting into law enforcement back in 2008.
I consulted with him on several tough cases and circumstances during my career. He has strong moral character and will do the right thing regardless of the circumstances or pressures. I have trusted him with my life and would trust him as a Sheriff.
I believe, if elected, he will be an amazing leader and make Clearwater County proud.Dan Gazelka

I have had the pleasure of knowing Adam for the past 7 years. As the former Chief of Police in Menahga MN. He has demonstrated himself as a Professional Law Enforcement Officer. He truly showed he cared for the citizens he had sworn to serve. Adam is a military veteran and served proudly. Adam is also dedicated to Firearms Safety and offers classes for firearms training as a Certified Instructor. Adam would be a Great Sheriff.
As a family man he has demonstrated that his wife and children are the most important things in his life. Another priority for Adams is his concern for the community and helping others.
I have known Adam for almost two decades and have witnessed his strong moral and professional character. Adam's faithfulness in serving the community is evident in how very present he shows up in confidence, experience, and integrity, engaging the people and businesses in our community on a daily basis and in various circumstances. I work with vulnerable and traumatized populations, and Adam and his team consistently support in compassion and gentle strength. I am truly confident that Adam has the experience, wisdom, and ability to serve Clearwater County.
1. My name is SSG Jake Theivagt and I had the pleasure of Serving with SSG Adam Gunderson for over a decade in the Minnesota Army National Guard. During this Service we worked to shape and mold young Soldiers to ship to Basic Training with the Recruit Sustainment Program.
2. SSG Gunderson served as my Platoon Leader during this time and his leadership helped to get me to where I am today. He always set a great example and his professionalism never wavered. He has the rare quality of a leader who demands the respect necessary to lead as well as the approachability to handle a wide array of Soldier’s issues. His mentorship is the reason I am still working full time for the National Guard today.
3. SSG Gunderson’s defined the Army Values. He has the Integrity it takes to work with young Soldier’s and be entrusted with their future in the Army National Guard. He also went above and beyond by often coming in early and staying late to assure that his troops were taken care of. His dedication to our mission was unmatched.
4. SSG Gunderson is exactly the type of leader you are looking for. He has the ability to lead and mentor a wide range of Soldier’s. He can also be trusted to complete any mission set before him.
