April 3rd 2026, I had the privilege of spending time on a European pheasant hunt with veterans through the Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation, Middle River Veterans Outdoors, and Mandatory Fun Outdoors.
What stood out to me wasn’t just the hunt, it was the time spent together. Conversations, shared experiences, and the kind of camaraderie you don’t always find once you’re back home.
As a veteran, those moments mean something to me. Being around others who understand that bond is a reminder of how important it is to stay connected and look out for one another.
I also had the chance to reconnect with guys I had deployed and served with, which made it even more meaningful. Those are bonds that don’t fade.
That’s what these organizations are doing: giving veterans a place to reconnect, support each other, and move forward.
As Sheriff, I’ll continue to stand behind efforts like this that strengthen people, families, and our entire community—not just in words, but through action.
